Biography

Fyodor Cherenkov began playing football in the team of the regional housing office , where he lived, participating in the Leather Ball tournament [2] . He played in the championship of the city of Moscow in futsal, playing for secondary school No. 811. At one of the games, he, along with two other players, was noticed by the breeders of the Kuntsevo sports club, who invited them to their place. In “Kuntsevo” Cherenkov spent two years studying with coach Mikhail Ivanovich Mukhortov [2] .

At the age of 12, he starred in an episode of the children's film “ Not a Word About Football ”, where he scored a goal with “scissors”.

In 1971, Mukhortov sent Fedor to the football school of Moscow “Spartak” , to coach Anatoly Maslenkin [2] . In Spartak "Spartak" Cherenkov spent six years, speaking under the leadership of Maslyonkin, and then Vladimir Ignatovich Chernyshev.

In 1977, Cherenkov graduated from the Sports School (later named after him) [3] , team leader Nikolai Petrovich Starostin came to his final games, who invited the player to take the “red-white” double.

In “Spartak” Cherenkov took Konstantin Ivanovich Beskov , who in the late 1970s was engaged in updating the composition of the team. From the first matches, Cherenkov established himself as a bright and outstanding footballer, with excellent technique and a vision of the field. Fedor quickly became one of the leading players in Spartak, and after leaving the team, Yuri Gavrilov took over from him the role of the key organizer of the team’s game. On the field, Cherenkov was distinguished by a rare combinative instinct, accurate and timely pass, non-standard actions in the attack. The game of Cherenkov brought him recognition and love of fans.

Becoming the best football player in the country, Fyodor Cherenkov, however, was not always involved in the main team of the country . Valery Lobanovsky , who was the head coach of the USSR national team in 1986-1990, often built the backbone of the national team of Dynamo Kyiv players , in which the Spartak player, according to Lobanovsky, did not always fit in [4] .

He graduated from Moscow State Mining University , the theme of the diploma is “Resin-injection hardening of rocks” [5] .

In 1990, he went to play Red Star for six months (Paris, France). However, the team did not take root and already in the spring of 1991 again played for Spartak. The last match was played at the age of 34 years 105 days - November 7, 1993 against Rostselmash (3-0 at home).

On August 23, 1994, in Moscow, at the Dynamo stadium, a farewell match was organized for Cherenkov, where Parma was the rival. The MMM company acted as the general sponsor of the farewell match, presenting the red-and-white Mitsubishi Pajero SUV to Cherenkov during the break of the match [6] .

Since 1994, she has been coaching at Spartak. In recent years, he departed from coaching and performed in separate veteran teams.

One of the few players respected by fans of other clubs, including fans of eternal rivals: CSKA , Dynamo (Moscow) and Dynamo (Kiev) [7] .

Illness

Since the spring of 1984, Cherenkov was diagnosed with a mental disorder , which has since worsened in the spring and autumn, especially in the even years when Cherenkov was forced to go to treatment. According to the recollections of the USSR national team goalkeeper Vyacheslav Chanov , the first attack of the persecution mania by Fedor occurred in March 1984 in Tbilisi before the match with Anderlecht [8] . Due to periodic outbreaks of the disease, Cherenkov had vivid seasons for odd years - 1983, 1987, 1989 - and he did not make it to any World or European Championships.

In the early 2000s, Cherenkov twice tried to commit suicide by taking a large dose of a sedative as a result of depression . Doctors suggested that this is a consequence of frequent head injuries sustained while playing football. For a number of years, it was periodically treated stationary in specialized medical institutions [9] [10] [11] [12] [13] .

Death

September 22, 2014 Cherenkov lost consciousness at his entrance to the street Samora Mashela , 4, bldg. 3. By ambulance he was taken to the nearest hospital. Doctors diagnosed Cherenkov with hypotension of unknown origin. Death was ascertained at 7:48 a.m. on October 4, 2014 [14] , its alleged cause is a brain tumor [15] [16] .

The civil funeral service, held on October 7 in the arena in Sokolniki, was visited by about 13.5 thousand people [17] . He was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery . On October 12, 2015, a monument was solemnly erected near the Otkrytie Arena stadium. The southern tribune now bears the name of Fedor Cherenkov.
