Biography

Born on February 2, 1922 in the village of Ternovoye [1] . Graduated 5 classes. He worked on the farm.

June 10, 1941 was drafted into the Red Army . June 21, with a group of recruits arrived in the unit - the 434th battalion of aerodrome service. In the first battle with the German enemy invaders entered, not yet having received the form. Only on the third day of the war, recruits took the military oath. During the year, as part of the battalion, the Red Army man Baldin ensured the combat operations of the fighter regiment and guarded the airfield. The fighters extinguished fires, neutralized unexploded air bombs, destroyed landings, which were repeatedly dropped from enemy aircraft. Their duties included the mining of the airfield and its structures before retreat.

In August 1942, the battalion was disbanded, and all the soldiers were enrolled in the 76th Marine Brigade, relegated to the rear for replenishment. Baldin got into the machine-gun company, the second number in the calculation of the machine gun "Maxim". At the end of September 1942, the brigade reached the forefront in the area of ​​the Goryachiy Klyuch station in Krasnodar Region . In fierce battles, the paratroopers restrained the pressure of the enemy, rushing to the Black Sea. In one of the battles, Baldin’s entire calculation was lost, and he didn’t notice in the heat of the battle how the enemy had walked him right and left, and was taken prisoner. Then there was the escape, the exit to his, checking.

In February 1943, Baldin arrived with the completion of the 77th Infantry Division. Here he was identified in the 239th artillery regiment as a loader in the calculation of the 76-millimeter anti-tank gun. The regiment carried out coastal defense Taganrog Bay in the area from Azov to Temryuk. Arriving at the position, together with his comrades Baldin fought off the attacks of high-speed enemy boats. Soon the young artilleryman mastered well the duties of not only the loader, but also all the other fighters of the calculation. From August of the same year, with his unit, operating as part of the 44th Army of the Southern Front, artilleryman Baldin participated in the battles for the liberation of southern Ukraine , the Donbass.

On October 9, 1943, in a battle near the village of Oktoberfeld in the Tokmak district of the Zaporozhye region of Ukraine, the settlement, which included Baldin, repulsed several enemy infantry attacks. Then enemy tanks entered the battle. Baldin, being wounded, did not get out of battle. When boxes of shells caught fire, risking their lives, put out the fire and continued to carry shells. In this battle, the calculation knocked out three tanks. By order of the 77th Red Banner Rifle Division, dated December 18, 1943, Red Army soldier Baldin George Iosifovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.

Then there were fierce battles for the city of Melitopol, forcing the Sivash, the liberation of Dzhankoy, Simferopol and other settlements of the Crimea. Junior Sergeant Baldin on the outskirts of Sevastopol was already the gunner of the gun. On the approaches to the city of Russian glory, his calculation destroyed 2 machine guns, an anti-tank gun and more than 10 enemy soldiers. May 7, 1944 began the assault on Sevastopol. The forces of the left flank of the 51st Army, on which the 77th Rifle Division was located, inflicted the main attack on the Sapun-Gora-Karan sector. During the breakthrough of the enemy’s defense, Baldin’s calculation suppressed the fire of five machine-gun points, knocking out about 20 enemy soldiers. When the crew commander was killed, the gunner assumed command of himself. G. I. Baldin did not have to participate in the storming of the city itself. His division had another task: breaking through the enemy defenses, reaching the Black Sea coast and the main Sevastopol berths to prevent the evacuation of the enemy troops. This task was successfully solved by her. By order of the troops of the 51st Army on June 28, 1944, Junior Sergeant Baldin George Iosifovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.

The artilleryman has already received a well-deserved award far from the Crimea, in the Baltic States, where after a short rest the divisions were redeployed. The division soldiers in the 60th Infantry Corps of the 2nd Guards Army entered Lithuanian land, participated in the battles for the liberation of Riga. In the winter of 1945 in battles on the territory of East Prussia, Sergeant Baldin commanded the crew in the 571st artillery regiment. On February 6, in a battle in the area of ​​the town of Albrechsdorf, the calculation of Sergeant Baldin, having advanced the gun in direct fire, opened fire with a canister on the attacking infantry. When the tanks entered the battle, Baldin first set fire to one of them. At that moment, a shell exploded at the position of the artillerymen, and the whole calculation failed. Baldin was wounded, but did not move away from the gun, knocked out another tank and an armored personnel carrier.

Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated June 29, 1945 for exceptional courage, bravery and courage shown at the final stage of the Great Patriotic War in battles with enemy invaders, Sergeant Baldin Georgy Iosifovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree. Became a full gentleman of the Order of Glory.

After the Victory continued military service. In 1948, Sergeant Baldin was demobilized. He worked as a sinker in a coal mine in the Irkutsk region . Since 1980, he served in the bodies of the Ministry of the Interior. He lived in the city of Yaroslavl. He died on October 4, 1999. He was buried in Yaroslavl on the Alley of Heroes of the Military Memorial Cemetery.

He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War , 1st degree, Glory of three degrees, medals.
