Torpedo alexandrinsis is a poorly studied species of the gnus genus of the gnius family of the electric stingrays . These are cartilaginous fish leading the bottom lifestyle, with large, flattened pectoral and abdominal fins, forming a disk. To protect and attack, they can generate electric current . They live in the Red Sea . Data on the presence of this species in the Mediterranean are doubtful. Propagate by ovum . Not of interest for commercial fishing. The species is named for its geographical habitat ( Alexandria , Egypt) [1] [2] .
