Biography
Born March 8, 1909 in the city of Yekaterinoslav. Ukrainian. He graduated from 7 classes and school trade schools. He worked as an assistant steelworker at the Dnepropetrovsk Metallurgical Plant.
In the Red Army since 1930. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1932. In 1933 he graduated from the United Central Asian Red Banner Military Infantry School named after VI Lenin. Participant of fights with basmachs in the composition of the combined detachment of cadets. In 1935 he graduated from Borisoglebsk military aviation school of pilots.
Member of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941. He served in one of the aviation units of the 3rd Air Army of the Kalinin Front. Then he commanded the 949th Assault Aviation Regiment as part of the 1st Baltic Front .
The commander of the 949th Assault Aviation Regiment, Major Alexei Shkulepov, by March 1944 made 103 combat sorties to attack enemy troops, skillfully supervised the regiment's combat activities. In air battles personally shot down 2 enemy aircraft. Under the command of Major Shkulepov, the 949th Assault Aviation Regiment participated in the liberation of Belarus and the Baltic States. For the successful execution of combat missions, he was eight times thanked by the Supreme Commander. The regiment was led by Shkulepov himself to perform especially important tasks. So it was in the Belarusian offensive operation, when repelling enemy counterattacks under Šiaulei, Jelgava and Riga.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated July 1, 1944, for exemplary performance of the combat missions of the command and the courage and heroism displayed at the same time, Major Shkulepov Alexei Panteleevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.
After the war, continued service in the Air Force of the USSR. In 1952 he graduated from the Higher Officer Flight Tactical Courses. Since 1954, Colonel A. P. Shkulepov has been in reserve.
He lived in his hometown of Dnipropetrovsk. He worked at one of the factories. He died on January 19, 1987. He was buried in Dnepropetrovsk at the Sursko-Litovsk cemetery.
He was awarded the Order of Lenin , four Orders of the Red Banner , Orders of Alexander Nevsky , World War 1 and 2 degrees, the Red Star , the Medal for Military Merit medal and other medals.
