Biography

Born in the Poltava province [2] March 30 ( April 11 ), 1852 [3] . He was educated at the local seminary , but did not graduate from it due to illness. He was a psalm-reader, a schoolteacher [2] [3] .

In 1877 he moved to St. Petersburg [2] . Collaborated in print editions: “Orenburg sheet”, “Siberia”, “Poltava diocesan sheets”, “Volyn diocesan sheets”, “Church Bulletin”, “Church-Social Bulletin”, “Modernity”, “ Old Russian ”, “ Ancient and New Russia "," Historical Library "," Historical Bulletin ", where he published notes and historical articles (a number of them under the pseudonym Yuskovsky ) [2] [3] .

He studied Russian history and archeology [3] , described the life of the clergy [2] ; worked in the library of a wealthy landowner, often visited church archives and libraries [3] .

He was ill with consumption , spending on treatment is almost completely subsidies from the literary fund [3] .

He died on April 26 ( May 8 ), 1881 in the Poltava province [3] . Later, on the basis of "cribs" left by Pavlovsky, Nikolai Semenovich Leskov wrote a historical essay " Tramps of the spiritual rank ."
