History
In ancient times, these places were part of the kingdom of Jin . In 585 BC e. the capital of Jin was moved from the city of Jiang to Xintian located in these places, which was renamed Xinjiang (新绛, “new Jiang”). Then Three families divided Jin , and the city ceased to be the capital.
When the kingdom of Qin conquered all the other kingdoms and created the first centralized empire in the history of China, then Jiangxian County (создан) was created in these places. Under the Eastern Han Empire, it was renamed Jiangi (绛 邑 县). Under the Northern Wei Empire, in 487, Jiangi County was renamed Quiwo.
The Linfen Special Area (临汾 专区) was created in 1949, and Quiwo County became part of it. In 1954, the Linfen Special Region was merged with the Yuncheng Special Region (运城 专区) into the Jinnan Special Region (晋南 专区). In 1958, the city of Homea was formed from the districts of Quiwo, Xinjiang, as well as parts of the counties of Xiangfen and Jingxian. However, in 1962, Qinjiang County was restored, and in 1963 the city of Homea was disbanded and the county of Quiwo was restored.
In 1970, the Jingnan Special District was disbanded, and the Linfen District (临汾 地区) and the Yuncheng District (运城 地区) were formed in its place; Quiwo County became part of Linfen County. In 1971, Home County was isolated from Cuyvo County.
In 2000, by the decision of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Linfen County was transformed into Linfen City District.
