Julius Theodor Grünert ( January 31, 1809 , Halle - August 30, 1889, Trier [1] ) - German forestry scientist, forester, practitioner, teacher and scientific writer.

Biography
After receiving a special education, first in Halle, then at the Neustadt-Eberswald Forest Institute (1832-1833) and three years of teaching at this university, he began (in 1836) practical career activity in the Prussian state forest service: in 1843 he was the chief forester in the Potsdam area , in 1846 he became the inspector of forests in Danzig, in 1850 - the senior forester in Köslin, in 1851 transferred to the same position in Danzig, in 1854 became the main royal forester in the same place. In 1859, he was appointed director of the Neustadt-Eberswald Institute, which was soon transformed into the Forestry Academy. After 7 years (in 1866) he returned to the practical work of the chief forstmeister in Trier. He retired in 1878.
Major works: Der Preussische Förster (1869, 2nd edition - 1883); Forstlehre (1872, 4th edition - 1884); "Jagdlehre" (1879-1880); Die Forstlehrlings- und die Förster-Prüfung in Fragen (1885) and Die Jagdgesetzgebung Preussens in ihrer geschichtlichen Entwickelung (1886). Moreover, he took part in compiling the Forstund Jagd-Encyclopädie published by Dombrowski and published in 1861 the special magazine he founded, Forstliche Blätter.
