Biography
Timofei Simakov was born on January 24, 1909 in the village of Samodurovka (now Sadovka, Gorodishchensky District, Penza Region ). After graduating from incomplete secondary school, he first worked at the factory, then he headed the collective farm . In 1932 - 1934 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In May 1939, Simakov was re-drafted into the army. In the same year he graduated from junior lieutenant courses. He participated in the battles of the Soviet-Finnish war . Since the beginning of World War II - on its fronts [1] .
By July 1944, Lieutenant Timofey Simakov commanded the 1st company of the 796th Infantry Regiment of the 141st Infantry Division of the 1st Guards Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of the Ivano-Frankivsk region of the Ukrainian SSR . In July 1944, Simakova’s company was one of the first to cross the Dniester south of Galich and took an active part in the battles for the capture and retention of the bridgehead on its shore, repelling three German counterattacks. On July 26, 1944, Simakova's company was the first to break into Stanislav (now Ivano-Frankivsk ) and took an active part in his release. In battles for the city, Simakov’s company destroyed dozens of enemy soldiers and officers, but he himself died during the liberation of Stanislav according to the report of the irretrievable losses of the 141st Infantry Division on July 27, 1944 . He was buried in a mass grave in Ivano-Frankivsk [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for "exemplary performance of the combat missions of the command on the front of the struggle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown", Lieutenant Timofei Simakov was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also posthumously awarded the Order of Lenin [1] .
In honor of Simakov, a street was named in the village of Russky Ishim, Penza Region [1] .
