Biography

Born on December 24, 1924 in the village of Shevelika, Shchekinsky district, Tula region . He lived in the city of Podolsk, Moscow Region . He graduated from 9 classes.

At the beginning of 1942, at the age of seventeen, he volunteered for the front. In the reserve regiment he received the specialty of a machine gunner and since August of that year he fought on the outskirts of Stalingrad. As part of the 13th Guards Rifle Division, he participated in the defense of the city on the Volga. When Soviet troops went on the offensive against a surrounded enemy group, machine gunner Alifanov was in the forefront of the attackers. In the summer of 1943 he fought on the Kursk, then crossed the Dnieper. In the battles during the defeat of the German-enemy troops near Korsun-Shevchenkovsky he was wounded. After the hospital, having returned to the front, he mastered the specialty of a sapper. Before the Victory, he fought as part of the 358th Infantry Regiment of the 136th Infantry Division.

On the night of December 20, 1944, north of the city of Warsaw, Sergeant Alifanov and his squad provided the intelligence group with a grip on the tongue. The sappers made passages in the wire and minefields, ensuring the secret penetration of the capture group to the enemy trenches. Upon return, the scouts were discovered by the enemy and could not use the ready-made passage. Then Sergeant Alifanov and his comrades quickly made a new passage and the scouts returned without loss. The "language" was delivered to the headquarters and provided valuable information. In this nightly search, Sergeant Alifanov recovered from frozen ground and neutralized up to two dozen mines. By order of December 31, 1944, Sergeant Alifanov Vasily Alekseevich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.

On the night of January 14, 1945, on the eve of the offensive, to the west of Warsaw, the detachment of Sergeant Alifanov prepared four passes in minefields and wire fences of the enemy. When in the morning, after artillery preparation, the infantrymen went on the attack, Alifanov’s sappers were ahead of the attackers. On January 18, in the area of ​​the city of Modlin, carrying out an assignment for reconnaissance of enemy minefields, a group of Alifanov clashed with superior forces of the Nazis and accepted the battle. The sappers and scouts went on the attack. With automatic fire and grenades, they defeated the enemy, and the surviving fascists put to flight. In this fight, Alifanov exterminated eleven opponents with machine gun fire. By order of the troops of the 70th army of March 19, 1945, Sergeant Alifanov Vasily Alekseevich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.

Developing the offensive, Soviet troops reached the Oder River. On April 20, Sergeant Alifanov was one of the first to cross the water barrier south of the city of Stettin and Szczecin along with the squad. The sappers cleared two passes in the minefields of the enemy and participated in the battles for holding the bridgehead. While counterattacking, Sergeant Alifanov from the captured Faustpatron knocked out the self-propelled guns “Ferdinand” and destroyed 14 enemy soldiers with machine gun fire.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 29, 1945 for exceptional courage, courage and fearlessness shown at the final stage of World War II in battles with enemy invaders, Sergeant Alifanov Vasily Alekseevich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree. He became the full holder of the Order of Glory.

After the Victory, he continued to serve in the army. In 1947 he was demobilized. He lived in the city of Moscow . He worked in the Department of Internal Affairs. He died on July 12, 1977.

He was awarded the orders of World War 2 degree, Red Star , Glory 3 degrees, medals.
