Biography

Born on October 20, 1920 in the village of Zapolye, now in the Vitebsk district of the Vitebsk region of Belarus, into a peasant family. Byelorussian. Graduated 5 classes. He worked on the collective farm, on construction sites in Vitebsk.

In the Red Army since May 1941. Member of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941. The machine gunner of the partisan detachment under the command of D. F. Raitsev, a Komsomol member Mikhail Silnitsky, on March 28, 1942, in a battle with a detachment of punishers at the villages of Ploty and Kurino, covering up the detachment of the detachment, destroyed dozens of opponents. Surrounded by enemies, the partisan machine gunner was killed in a melee. Buried in the village of Kurino.

By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 15, 1942, for exemplary performance of the combat missions of the command and the courage and heroism displayed at the same time, Mikhail Fedorovich was posthumously given the title Hero of the Soviet Union .

Awarded the Order of Lenin .

A plaque installed in Vitebsk on the house on the street bearing the name of Hero. The school of the village of Kurino opened a museum. The collective farm in the Polotsk district of the Vitebsk region of Belarus is named after Hero of the Soviet Union Mikhail Silnitsky. Also, the monument to Silnitsky was erected near the site of the last battle near the Vitebsk — Gorodok route at the turn to the village of Luzhesno .
