Biography

Born on June 5, 1922 in the city of Guryevsk, Kemerovo region . Since 1925 he lived in the city of Rogachev. He graduated from high school, worked as a mechanic at a machine and tractor station.

In the army since July 1941. Until November 1941, he studied at the Volsky Military Infantry School. The cadet battalion was sent to the Kinel station, where the 134th Infantry Brigade was formed.

Member of the Great Patriotic War since May 1942. He fought on the Central and 1st Ukrainian fronts, was twice wounded. The entire combat path went as part of the 74th Infantry Division , became the Komsomol of the 2nd Infantry Battalion of the 360th Infantry Regiment.

Particularly distinguished when crossing the Dnieper. On September 23, 1943, as part of a forward detachment of 14 people, he crossed to the right bank of the river near the village of Komarin, and 3 tanks were knocked out of an anti-tank rifle on a captured bridgehead. In a critical situation, he replaced a company commander who was out of order, and was wounded in this battle.

For courage and heroism shown in the battles, by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 16, 1943, Senior Sergeant Filimonov Mikhail Vasilievich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal .

After the hospital he returned to his regiment. In March 1944 he was sent to study at a military school.

In 1945 he graduated from the Kharkov Military-Political School. He continued to serve in the army. In 1954 he graduated from the Military-Political Academy. He served as head of the political department of units in the Far East and in Transbaikalia. Since 1961 - head of the political department of special units of the Orenburg garrison. He lived in the city of Orenburg. He died on February 23, 2009.

He was awarded the orders of Lenin , World War 1 degree, Red Star , "For Service to the Homeland in the Armed Forces of the USSR" 3rd degree, medal "For Courage", and other medals. Honorary Citizen of Orenburg.

In the city of Rogachev, Gomel region, on the Alley of Heroes in the Pioneer Park, a memorial sign to M.V. Filimonov is installed.
