Story
The song is dedicated to Kyle Broflovski's mother - Sheila Broflovski . In both cases, the song is a form of expression of irritation due to the negative consequences that Sheila’s public activities bring to South Park . In “Mr. Hanky,” she demanded that elements contrary to Judaism be removed from the school's Christmas play (Sheila professes Judaism and educates her children in this religion). Having grasped the idea of Broflowski, various minorities also began to seek the abolition of various elements of the holiday. As a result, the performance turned into a set of meaningless movements to meaningless music. In the Big, the Long and the Uncircumcised, Sheila became the culprit of the American - Canadian war with millions of human victims.
Practically, the song is a continuous stream of various expletives against Sheila.
In the second half of the song from the full-length film, fragments allegedly sung by children from all over the world alternate (in fact, dressed as Cardman with dancers in the appropriate entourage). These include:
- Chinese children on the background of the Great Wall of China;
- French children in front of the Eiffel Tower;
- Dutch children on the background of the mills - in the characteristic Dutch caps and, suddenly, with elements of yodelya ;
- Children of one of the African countries - against the background of acacias and elephants, with drums and voodoo masks, Cartman with a black face;
- All of the above together.
The co-author of the soundtrack for the film, Mark Sheiman ( eng. Marc Shaiman ) in his interview told about this "Around the World":
They recorded this song for the TV version, but then I said: “What if we make a section in the form of a round-the-world travel diary?” This whole piece in the style is “ It's a Small World [etc. 1] recorded by me in my home. You will not understand what I am saying, but I remember that the era of digital editing and the Internet was just beginning, and I remember calling the Assistant of Trey and Matt asking me to find the translations of “Mother Kyle” in as many languages as possible. All I'm singing here is real translations, including African ones, and I slowed down the music to record my singing, all the time believing that later we would overwrite all this with real vocalists. And then one day Trey saw in the schedule that I was going to re-record a song with a normal vocal, and he said this: “Don't touch! I do not allow you to change it! ”So I directly got involved in this song, but I want to emphasize - it's all because of Trey. Original Text (Eng.) “That's a song they had written for the TV show, but then I said, ' I was singing all those parts. He said that he could not understand what was going on. can you imagine? It is a real translation. It wasn’t your opinion. I won't let you change it. ' I have to stress — it's all Trey. ” [1] |
