Cryptinglisia zizyphi (lat.) Is a species of half-winged insects - a coccid of the genus Cryptinglisia from the family Pseudoscutis ( Coccidae ) [1] .

Africa: Zimbabwe , South Africa [1] .

Description

They feed on the juices of plants such as Asteraceae : Vernonia umbricata ; Ebenaceae : Royena glabra ; Lamiaceae : Rosmarinus ; Rhamnaceae : Ziziphus . The species was first described in 1920 by entomologist C. Brain ( Brain, CK ) under the original name Inglisia zizyphi . The species epithet is given by the name of the plant ( Ziziphus ) on which it was discovered [1] [2] . The taxon Cryptinglisia zizyphi is included in the genus Cryptinglisia Cockerell, 1900 (tribe Cardiococcini ) along with the species Cryptinglisia elytropappi , Cryptinglisia lounsburyi , Cryptinglisia patagonica [1] [3] [4] [5] .
