School of Economics (Institute)

The non-profit private organization Institute of the Economic School was established in 1994 on the basis of the Economic School enterprise, which was founded in 1991 by a group of teachers of economic universities of St. Petersburg. The main activity of the institute was: the publication of educational, reference and scientific literature, including the journal "School of Economics"; retraining of teachers and the introduction of new training courses in higher education; advanced training of specialists in Russian enterprises; research activities; economic education at school.

The institute had its own publishing house " Economic School " and its own editorial board of the journal " Economic School ". In 2004, the Institute of the Economic School became part of the St. Petersburg branch of the Higher School of Economics (now the Higher School of Economics ) as an independent unit while retaining its name and main lines of activity ^[1] .

During 1994-2004, the Institute was engaged in translating and creating literature, the first Russian intermediate-level textbooks on micro and macroeconomics were published, the Economic School magazine was published, and a series of classic translations, Milestones of Economic Thought, was published.
