The Liebig refrigerator , also called a straight-tube refrigerator or a direct-flow refrigerator, is made of glass, created by Justus Liebig , has 2 versions - with and without thin section, it is used mainly as a descending one in most devices for simple and vacuum distillation (distillers).
The refrigerator consists of two glass tubes inserted with a thin section and sealed one into the other. Liquid vapors move along the inner tube, and a coolant moves along the outer tube (usually cold water, called a water or water jacket, is the coolant).
The upper part of the refrigerator is connected to a Würz flask , a tube or allonge, which leaves the flask, in which there is an initial mixture of substances. The lower part of the refrigerator is connected to the allonge through which the distillation product enters the receiver.
The Liebig refrigerator is used in all types of distillation devices.
