Biography
Alexander Seredenko was born in 1912 in the village of Krasny Kutok (now the Borisov District of the Belgorod Region ). After graduating from elementary school he worked on the collective farm . In 1934 - 1935 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1943, Seredenko was again drafted into the army. From the same year, on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, he fought the shooter of the 955th Infantry Regiment of the 309th Infantry Division of the 40th Army of the Voronezh Front . Distinguished during the battle for the Dnieper [1] .
On the night of September 21-22, 1943, Seredenko was among the first to cross the Dnieper near the village of Rzhishchev, Kagarlyk district, Kiev region, Ukrainian SSR, and took an active part in battles to seize and hold a bridgehead on its western bank, repelling a large number of German counterattacks, personally destroying machine-gun design of the enemy [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 23, 1943, Red Army soldier Alexander Seredenko was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
January 10, 1944 Seredenko died in battle. He was buried at the Yarovatka station in the Umansky district of the Cherkassy region of Ukraine [1] .
