Biography
Born on May 15, 1919 in the village of Probogye Pole (now - Dmitrievsky District, Kursk Region ) in a peasant family. He graduated from 7 classes. He worked as an auto mechanic.
In the Red Army since 1937. In 1939 he graduated from the autotractor school. Participant of the liberation campaign of the Soviet troops in Western Belarus in 1939 . On the front in the Great Patriotic War from June 1941.
The commander of the T-34 tank of the 254th tank battalion Komsomolets senior lieutenant Alexander Skvortsov fought for eight hours on February 24, 1943, near the Ocheretino village (urban-type settlement in the Aleksandrovsky district of the Donetsk region of Ukraine ). By fire from a stationary tank, the crew entrusted to a brave tank officer destroyed eight enemy tanks, an anti-tank gun, seven vehicles and up to two enemy companies. When the ammunition was used up, the tank commander A.E. Skvortsov removed the machine guns from the combat vehicle, blew it up, and with a fight pulled the crew out of the encirclement.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 17, 1943, for exemplary performance of combat missions of command on the front of the fight against the German-enemy invaders and the courage and heroism shown to senior lieutenant Alexander Skvortsov awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal " .
Since 1946, Major A.E. Skvortsov - in stock. He lived in the village Popovkino Dmitrievsky district of the Kursk region , then - in Semiluki [1] . He died on April 16, 1976. He was buried in the city of Semiluki, Voronezh region .
He was awarded the Order of Lenin , the Order of the Red Banner , World War 1 st degree, the Red Star , and medals.
