Biography
Chris Algieri is a boxer of Italian-Argentinean origin. Algieri holds a bachelor's degree in health from Stony Brook University with a master's degree from the New Institute of Technology. Algieri is a professional sports nutritionist who works with private clients. He also loves cooking.
Algieri began his training in martial arts in the Chinese city of Kempo under the tutelage of Robert Mauro at the age of 10 years. Chris got a black kickboxing belt at the age of 15 and began performing in amateur kickboxing at the age of 16. Chris has won 2 Champions League and one Catholic state championship. Then Algieri received a knee injury and spent the next 3 seasons as an assistant coach. He ended his amateur kickboxing career undefeated, and won the USKBA Championship in the Northeast Region, Chris decided to become a professional at the age of 19.

Kickboxing
On November 23, 2005, Algieri won the WPKA world welterweight title.
On October 29, 2007, Chris won the ISKA world welterweight title.
At a professional kickboxing ring, Algieri held 20 fights, all of which he won.
Boxing
Algieri made his debut in the professional boxing ring in April 2008.
He spent 18 victorious rating matches against passing boxers, and then won on points of a strong American boxer, Emanuel Taylor. After that, he was unexpectedly selected as a contender for the champion title with the famous Russian boxer, Ruslan Provodnikov .
June 14, 2014 the championship match was held. Algieri was an outsider, and the coefficient for his victory was very high, but Chris was phenomenally able to win the match by defeating Provodnikov on points by a separate decision of the judges and became the new world champion according to the WBO , in the weight category up to 63.5 kg.
Fight with Manny Pacquiao
After a sensational victory over Provodkov, Algieri was chosen as a rival for the star Filipino, Manny Pacquiao , in the welterweight division.
On November 23, 2014, he was defeated by Manny Pacquiao with a crushing score: 120-102 and 119-103 (twice), while having been knocked down six times [1]
