Biography
Born September 17, 1906 in Odessa. My father worked first as a miner in the Donbass , then as a worker at a chemical plant. Mother is a housewife.
In 1923, due to his father’s illness, the whole family moved to the village of Novokrasnoye, where Shershneva began working as a tile cutter in a brick factory. Here she joined the Komsomol and soon became the organizer of a rural women's detachment. Later she worked in the vineyard of the state farm named after Kotsyubinsky and at the same time was engaged in amateur performances.
In 1926, she returned to Odessa and entered the acting department of the Odessa Film School, combining studies with work at the Molocharssoyuz plant. She graduated from college in 1931.
In 1931, Vera Dmitrievna became a full-time actress of the Odessa film studio and began acting in films, making her debut in the film “The Right of the Fathers”. In 1932, she was invited to the Kiev film studio for filming in the film "Train No. ..." directed by Leonid Lukov , after which she married him and subsequently starred in many of his paintings in the 1930s and 1940s.
In 1941, Shershneva was evacuated to Tashkent , and in 1943, by order of the Minister of Cinematography, she was transferred to the staff of the Soyuzdetfilm film studio. Due to her sister’s illness, she went to Kiev and worked there until 1945. Upon returning to Moscow, she starred in the 2nd episode of "Big Life" and then did not act in film for a long time.
In 1961, Vera Shershneva was accepted into the acting staff of the Gorky film studio, where she was until the end of her life.
She died on November 18, 1978 in Moscow. She was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery next to her husband Leonid Lukov (8th plot, 28th row). [one]
