Africa: Egypt (Luxor). Asia: Israel , Iraq , Iran , Jordan , Tajikistan , Uzbekistan [2] [1] .

Description

Small scales, adult females 0.9 mm long, 0.5 mm wide, oval in shape. They feed on the juices of such dicotyledonous tamarisk plants as Tamarix sp., Tamarix mannifera ( Tamaricaceae ). The species was first described in 1923 by entomologist W. Hall ( WJ ) as Coccomytilus isis [3] [1] [4] [5] . The taxon Mercetaspis isis is included in the genus Mercetaspis Gómez-Menor Ortega, 1927 together with the taxa Mercetaspis arthrophyti , Mercetaspis baluchistanensis , Mercetaspis benitezi , Mercetaspis bicuspis , Mercetaspis calligoni epigrid , 1 .
