Biography

From the nobles, Roman Catholic religion, the Pole. Received higher education at Vilnius University . Having received a master 's degree in philosophy, on September 1 ( 13 ), 1811 he was determined as a Latin teacher at the Lutsk district school, in 1812 he was transferred to the Svetevsky district school ( Postavy town of the Vilnius province); then - the senior teacher of the Polotsk district school. From 1813 for five years he taught eloquence, Greek, Polish and Latin at the Grodno Gymnasium in Svisloch . From September 1818, he was a teacher of the Latin language and ancient literature at the Warsaw Lyceum, and a year later he was re-designated as a teacher of Latin literature to the Grodno Gymnasium. From September 1, 1824, Yakubovich became a teacher of Latin literature at the Volyn Lyceum , where he published the Grammar of the Polish Language (Grammatyku języka polskiego, 1826-1827), accepted as one of the educational manuals for regional institutions, as well as Grammar of the Latin Language ( "Grammatyku języka łacińskiego", 1825-1826) and pedagogical work "On the way of learning languages" ("About sposobie uczenia języków. Jakim sposobem uczy się dziécię mowy ojczystéj?", 1826). In 1834, he was approved as an ordinary professor of Roman literature and antiquities at the newly created Imperial University of St. Vladimir at the same time taught Greek language and literature. In 1836, the University Council elected Yakubovich dean of the 1st branch of the Faculty of Philosophy. In 1837, for his impeccable length of service on the academic part of 25 years, he was awarded a life pension of a full salary for the rank of ordinary professor. He taught classes at the university of classical philology, the history of Greek and Roman literature, "philological archeology" and numismatics, Greek grammar.

On April 28, 1839, Yakubovich was transferred to Imperial Moscow University as an ordinary professor in the Department of Latin Language and the History of Roman Literature and Roman Antiquity of the Faculty of Philosophy of 1839-1842 [1] . He taught at the 1st year of the I department of the Faculty of Philosophy of Latin, at the 3rd and 4th courses - the history of Roman literature and Roman antiquities.

He retired in 1842. He lived in Vilna, Kiev and Kremenets, spent the last years of his life in Zhitomir, where he prepared a monograph on Christian philosophy in Polish. He died in Zhytomyr in April 1853.
