Research

In 2004, he described the conditions under which the possibility of creating an invisibility cloak and superlenses (continuing the work begun by the Russian scientist Viktor Veselago ) [4] [5] . Having received a grant from DARPA , John Pedry promised by 2009 to create material capable of making objects invisible in the radio frequency range. [6] . In 2010, an article was published on the successful creation of an invisibility cloak , in which one of the co-authors is John Pendry [7] .

Criticism

  • Victor Veselago ( AM Prokhorov General Physics Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences ) criticized the work of John Pendry [8] .
  • Anatoly Masalov ( PN Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences ) considered John Pedry's research a populist move to receive grants [9] .
  • and Francesco Monticone ( University of Texas at Austin ) argue that the complete concealment of macroscopic objects in a wide range of wavelengths from all directions in a passive way is impossible [10] .
