Biography
Born in the family of a member of the House of Representatives of the Japanese Parliament Tsuyoshi Matsumoto.
In 1942 he graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Tokyo Imperial University . Entered public service in the Ministry of Finance , in 1965 headed the customs in Kobe , then became a manager in the management of the control of banking activities.
In 1969 he was elected to the House of Representatives from the Liberal Democratic Party , re-elected in six subsequent convocations. Belonged to the faction of Shintaro Abe .
- 1974 - appointed Deputy Head of the Department of Internal Affairs and Communications, Office of the Prime Minister,
- 1979 - Parliamentary Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, also served as chairman of the construction department of the LDP,
- 1989–1990 - Director of the National Defense Directorate of Japan.
In 1993, he lost the election in his constituency and decided to leave politics. In 2000 he became a holder of the Grand Ribbon of the Order of the Sacred Treasure .
