The Jabari Parker family has settled in South Side , Chicago since his birth, and he spent all his childhood there [2] . Father, Sonny Parker, has been a youth fund since Chicago since 1990. Parker Jr. started playing basketball in one of the leagues supported by his father. He was the first coach of Jabari. [3] Jabari originally played with his brother Christian at a site near a local church in Hyde Park. [four]

Already in the second grade, he could play with fifth graders, with whom he competed in elementary school leagues. [3] A cousin, Jay Parket coached his game in defense - Jabari himself was in third grade, and Jay was in fifth. [5] Sometimes Jabari and Christian played all night. [6] In the fifth grade, Jabari joined the eighth-grade team, but did not play due to insurance conditions. [2] Also in the fifth grade, Jabari was invited several times to take part in the NCAA First Division due to his height (183 cm). [7] In the sixth grade, when his height reached 188 cm, he visited Simeon and managed to quarrel with Derrick Rose . [4] Parker began attending Robert Black's school, and also chose Simeon Academy, where players such as Rose, Nick Anderson , Ben Wilson , Bobby Simmons, and Deon Thomas were previously trained. [8] [9] Also, two older sisters of Parker studied at Simeon. [10] However, Jabari himself said that he chose Simeon as a platform for achieving something more in basketball. [11] After graduating from elementary school, he received an invitation from the NBA Players Association to participate in the summer camp, where 100 of the best US students were invited. In the end, Jabari agreed. By this time, the player’s height reached 193 cm. [12]

But there is something more than appearances in the NBA - this is his Faith. ” The article described his modesty and his conflict decision to devote himself to the Church and become a missionary. [4] Parker announced that by the end of the summer he plans to go to see the top five colleges. [48]

In the summer of 2012, Parker was considered as the best player in the United States in his position, but was injured, which is why he missed several games in the 2012 World Cup for boys under 17 years old. As a result, the national team won gold medals, and Okafor received the MVP title [59] . Parker became one of the top ten US players according to USA Today , [60] and MaxPreps.com named him No. 1 before the start of the season. [61]

[67] [68] [69] Simeon finished the tournament with a 30-3 margin. [67] [68]

College

Professional career

Parker announced in an autobiographical interview with Sports Illustrated on April 17 that he would run for the 2014 NBA Draft . [70] For this, he signed a contract with sports agent Rich Paul, known for working with LeBron James . [71] Parker (along with Wiggins and Joel Embiid ) decided to opt out of the annual NBA Draft Combine show. [72] On June 26, Parker, under the 2nd number, was selected by draft team Milwaukee Bucks . [73] [74] Shortly before the draft, Parker became his second participant, who had an included contract with Jordan Brand. [75]

International Career

In October 2010, Parker was chosen to participate in the development team of the US team for 2011-12, for which a special camp was organized. Camp participants automatically received an invitation to the national team, which was selected on June 10-18, 2011 to participate in FIBA matches under 16 years old. The training took place at the American Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs . [76] Parker was on the team as one of Chicago 's four representatives . [77] The player became MVP at the 2011 FIBA American Championship to 16 years old, and together with the national team he won the “gold”. [14] This allowed the US team to qualify for the FIBA World Cup for youth under 17 years old, which was held in 2012. [14] The team, led by Don Showalter of Mid Prair High School, scored more than 100 points in each meeting. [78] Parker was the best in the tournament with 27 points in a single match. [14] In December 2011, the player became Athlete of the Year according to the US Basketball Federation . In addition, he became the youngest tournament winner from the United States. [79] [80] [81] At the presentation of the award, which was given by the mayor of Chicago Ram Emanuel , Parker said: "I hope that they do not boo me." [82]

Parker was selected to participate in the 2012 FIBA World Cup for youth under 17 in Kaunas , Lithuania , which was held from June 29 to July 8. Parker also performed at the tournament along with his two teammates. [83] The national team won the “gold”, but Parker, due to ankle damage, missed several games, including the semi-finals. [84] [85]

Game Style and Features

Jabari Parker in the manner of the game is often compared with Derrick Rose [86] . Rose’s game against Oak Hill with Brandon Jennings , Nolan Smith and Alex Legion on ESPN has become a sort of “calling card” for him. [87]

Although Parker is most often compared to Rose, comparisons are sometimes made with Grant Hill and Paul Pierce . [3] [15] [88] Dime Magazine describes him as "Grant Hill Jump Jump." [89] Parker also built on the play of Paul Pierce and Carmelo Anthony . [90] He hopes to become the best school-level player in Chicago history and claims that “comparing with Derrick also turns me on. I know that now I have to play better than him and beat his records if I want to be the best in Chicago. I look forward and see players that I can follow. ” [44]

An article appeared in Sports Illustrated with a title comparing Parker and LeBron James . Journalists from Sporting News ' claimed: "although Parker is a rare talent, he will not overshadow Greg Oden , and will remain the best player in the school after Oden." [91] It is also noted that, compared to Lebron, Parker is not physically developed (if we compare them at the same age). [92] CBS Sports columnist Jeff Borzello also notes that since the release of James in 2003, both the best school-level players — Dwight Howard (2004) and Greg Oden (2006) have been the best, and Parker is unlikely to be better than Oden. CBS also notes that Parker "is hardly even the best player in schools in the US, the best progressive player of 2014 is Andrew Wiggins ." [93] Chicago Tribune journalist Mike Helfgot describes the comparison presented by Sports Illustrated as "terribly irresponsible journalism" and notes that Derrick Carackter was called the "new LeBron" during his time at Star-Ledger . [94]

Having won four championships in a row with Simeon, Parker and the team were compared with McClain. Journal Star emphasized that McClain left at the start with a score of 32-0, and the period 1994-97 was divided into two different classes. In addition, his team played in the eight-round tournament instead of the existing seven-round tournament. [69] At the post-match conference, coach Simeon Smith emphasized that his team had to comply with national regulations and play with elite teams, including long-distance trips. [68] During Rose’s performance, Simeon’s team only twice became a champion. [86] Parker’s indicators 55–11 in the first year of high school [14] , 33–1 in the second year [43] , and 30–3 in the final grade [67] [68] in total give 118–15, which is comparable with Rose's performance (120-12). [86]
