Biography
Born on July 13, 1919 in the village of Vechorki (now - Piryatinsky district of the Poltava region of Ukraine ). After graduating from school and livestock school he worked as a livestock specialist.
In 1939, Serbin was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1940, he graduated from the Kharkov Military Aviation School of Pilots. Since the beginning of World War II - on its fronts [1] .
By April 1945, the Guard, Senior Lieutenant Fyodor Serbin, was the navigator of the squadron of the 80th Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment ( 1st Guards Bomber Air Division , 6th Guards Bomber Aviation Corps , 2nd Air Army , 1st Ukrainian Front ). By that time, he had made 186 sorties to bombard accumulations of military equipment and manpower of the enemy, his important objects, inflicting heavy losses on him, took part in 28 air battles, shooting down 3 enemy aircraft personally and 2 more as part of the group [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 27, 1945, for the "exemplary performance of combat missions of the command to destroy enemy manpower and equipment and the courage and heroism shown" of the guard, Senior Lieutenant Fedor Serbin was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and a medal The Golden Star, numbered 7704 [1] .
After the war ended, Serbin continued to serve in the Soviet army. In 1953 he graduated from the Military-Political Academy . In 1961, with the rank of Colonel, Serbin was sacked. He lived in Kiev . He died on April 3, 1999 [1] .
Rewards
He was also awarded three orders of the Red Banner , two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Order of the Red Star and a number of medals [1] .
