Biography

Vladimir Sentyurin was born on January 20, 1918 in Pavlodar . After graduating from high school, he worked as a driver at a state farm . In November 1938, Sentyurin was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1941, he graduated from the Tambov Infantry School. Since the beginning of World War II - on its fronts. He was wounded twice in battles [1] .

By September 1943, Major Vladimir Sentyurin commanded a battalion of the 182nd Guards Rifle Regiment of the 62nd Guards Rifle Division of the 37th Army of the Steppe Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper . On September 28, 1943, the Sentyurin battalion crossed the Dnieper in the area of ​​the village of Kutsevolovka, Onufrievsky District, Kirovograd Region of the Ukrainian SSR, and seized the bridgehead on its western shore, after which it successfully retained it, repelling seven German counterattacks [1] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of December 20, 1943 for “courage and heroism shown in the struggle against the German invaders,” Major Vladimir Sentyurin was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 3527 [1 ] .

After the war he continued to serve in the internal troops of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs. In 1951, Sentyurin graduated from the Military Institute of the Ministry of State Security of the USSR, in 1961 - from the Military Academy of the General Staff. In June 1979, with the rank of lieutenant general, Sentyurin was transferred to the reserve. He lived in Moscow . He died on August 5, 1997, was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow [1] .
