Born in 1920. Russian.
The shooter of the 705th rifle regiment, the corporal Pyotr Tankov, was among the first on September 27, 1943 as part of a rifle company that overcame the Dnieper River near the village of Glebovka, Vyshgorodsky district, Kiev region of Ukraine, and during three days reflected the enemy’s counterattacks, inflicting significant damage in manpower and equipment. .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 17, 1943, for exemplary performance of the military tasks of the command on the front and the courage and heroism shown to the corporal Tankov Peter Yakovlevich, he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union .
