Biography

Born on August 22, 1921 in the city of Baku . Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1941. He graduated from 10 classes. In 1938 he graduated from the Baku flying club, was a flight instructor in it.

In 1939, he was drafted into the Navy and sent to the flight school. In 1940 he graduated with honors from the Yeisk Naval Aviation School named after I.V. Stalin . The young pilot was assigned to the 5th Fighter Aviation Regiment of the Air Force of the Red Banner Baltic Fleet.

In the battles of World War II from June 1941 . As part of the 104th separate fighter aviation squadron, he took part in the defense of the Baltic states and Leningrad . Since September 1941 - the commanding officer of the 13th Fighter Aviation Regiment. As part of the 3rd squadron, V.F. Golubev covered the Road of Life . He flew in tandem with P.P. Kozhanov.

May 28, 1942 5 fighters under the command of Golubev, in which Tsyganov flew in tandem with Baisultanov, thwarted a bombing strike on the ships on the roadstead. At dusk, more than 150 Ju-87 dive bombers crossed the front line in the Shlisselburg area and were attacked by our five. In a fleeting battle, pilots shot down 7 enemy aircraft, and another 5 were counted by anti-aircraft gunners. The unequal battle was observed by the commander of the Baltic Fleet, and an hour after landing at the regiment CP, an order came to assign extraordinary ranks to all pilots participating in the battle.

In May 1943, after the death of Kozhanov, Captain Tsyganov took command of the 3rd Squadron, the best regiment. From departure to departure, skill grew and the expense of downed enemy aircraft, commanding a squadron, skillfully led air battles and attack flights. By December 1943, he had made 492 sorties, 120 of them for attack and reconnaissance, in 65 air battles he shot down 6 enemy planes personally and 8 in the group.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 22, 1944, Captain Tsyganov Evgeny Terentyevich was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal for exemplary execution of command tasks and courage and heroism in battles with the German-enemy invaders of the guard.

After the final liberation of Leningrad from the blockade, the Gypsies as part of the regiment beat the enemy over Narva . By the spring of 1944, on the account of the combat squadron of Tsyganov was 183 of 365 enemy planes shot down by the regiment. Six of the twelve Heroes of the Soviet Union of the 4th Guards Regiment served in the 3rd Squadron. Soon Captain Tsyganov was promoted to the Far East . Over the years of the war, he made 550 sorties, conducted more than 100 air battles, shot down 12 enemy aircraft personally and 8 in the group [1] .

After the Victory, he continued to serve in the Navy. In 1953 he graduated from the Air Force Academy, in 1960 - from the General Staff Military Academy . Since 1968, Major General Aviation E.T. Tsyganov - in stock.

He lived in the city of Tallinn. He died on May 23, 1971. He was buried at the Forest Cemetery in Tallinn.

He was awarded the Order of Lenin , four orders of the Red Banner , the Order of the Red Star , and medals.
