Culver City is considered to be one of the birth places of the film industry, the first films were made in the 1910s , besides, the studios of the film company Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer are located in the city.
The name of the city can be translated as “the city of wild pigeons ” ( Culver is a less common synonym for pigeon and dove ).
