Biography

Born December 17, 1967 in Varesh, in central Bosnia, in the Orthodox Serbian family of Zdravko and Savka (nee Jović). He spent his childhood in the village of Planinitsa , where his family lived, who came from the Hercegovinsky village of Banyany, located near Lake Bilech. He finished primary school in Waresh in 1981, and in 1984 - Waresh School of Electricians.

In 1984-1988 he studied at the seminary, after which he entered the Theological Faculty of the University of Belgrade. In 1989 he was called up for military service in Zagreb .

On June 23, 1992, he was tonsured a monk at the Ostrog Monastery , from where he transferred with Bishop Athanasius (Yevtich) to the renewed Tvrdos Monastery in Trebinje.

On July 17, 1992, he was ordained a hierodeacon , and on August 19 of the same year, in a hieromonk .

Since the beginning of the 1990s, being a monk at the first meetings of the renewed Church in Herzegovina, he worked hard to spread the Good News, speaking especially to youth audiences, as well as in schools, libraries, the diocesan house and elsewhere.

In 1994 he graduated from the Theological Faculty, and in 1995-1997 he was in graduate school at the University of Athens .

On May 12, 1996 he was elevated to the rank of abbot , and on August 19, 1997 - archimandrite .

In May 1999, by a decision of the Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, he was elected bishop of Zakhumsk-Herzegovina and Primorsky . On July 5, 1999, the hierarchal consecration of Archimandrite Gregory took place.

With the blessing of the Patriarch of Serbia, Pavel was enthroned to the Hercegovinian throne by Metropolitan of Montenegro and Primorsky Amphilochius (Radovic) on October 3, 1999.

He is actively involved in public forums and cultural movements of the Republic of Serbia and Serbia , and his conversations and sermons are published in various news and periodicals and books.

During his stay at the department, more than ten temples and monasteries were updated, many of which were destroyed in the war of the 1990s, among them the monasteries of Zhytomysslich and Zavale. New churches were erected in the cities. In diocesan and parish houses, various meetings and conferences, scientific and peacemaking meetings and forums were held, and celebrations and glories are catered for.

In January 2012 he was awarded the Order of the Republika Srpska [1] .

In May 2013, the Council of Bishops approved an assistant to the elderly Metropolitan of Dabro-Bosan, Nicholas (Mrdzhi) [2] .

On October 28, 2015, by the decision of the Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, he was appointed administrator of the Dabro-Bosan Diocese with all the rights and duties of the diocesan bishop [3] . He ruled the diocese until it was appointed to it on May 24, 2017, Bishop Chrysostomos (Evich) .

On May 10, 2018, by a decision of the Council of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, he was appointed bishop of Frankfurt and all of Germany [4] .
