Biography
Mikhail Seleznyov was born on October 11, 1915 in the village of Malaya Kivara (now the Votkinsk district of Udmurtia ). From childhood, he lived and worked in Novosibirsk , worked in the evening school. He served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army in 1937-1939 [1] . In April 1941, he was called up for military training and sent to the Byelorussian SSR . Since the beginning of World War II - in the army. In the battles he was wounded four times [2] .
By June 1944, Sergeant Mikhail Seleznyov commanded the detachment of the 1348th Infantry Regiment of the 399th Infantry Division of the 48th Army of the 1st Byelorussian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of the Mogilyov region of the Byelorussian SSR . On June 30, 1944, the Seleznyov branch took an active part in the battles for the liberation of the village of Sychkovo, Bobruisk district . At the critical moment of the battle, Seleznyov closed the embrasure of the German bunker with the cost of his life, ensuring the success of the entire unit. He was buried in a mass grave in Sychkovo [2] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated March 24, 1945, Sergeant Mikhail Seleznev was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for “exemplary performance of the combat tasks of the command on the front of the fight against the German invaders and showing courage and heroism”. He was also awarded the Order of Lenin and the Red Star , a medal [2] .
A street, a school and a park are named in honor of Seleznyov, a monument to Sychkovo is erected, a street is named in Novosibirsk [2] .
