Description

Small bugs, the length of the females is from 2.2 to 5.0 mm (width from 1.1 to 1.3 mm). Male length 1.35 mm. The legs and antennae of females are fully developed. They feed on the juices of plants such as Poaceae ( Plagiochloa uniolae ): found on their roots and at the base of leaves ( Gramineae ). The species was first described in 2002 by entomologists Chris Hodgson ( Hodgson, Chris J. , Cardiff , Wales ) and Ian Millar ( Millar, Ian M. , Pretoria , South Africa ) [1] [2] . The taxon Lecanaclerda macropoda was isolated into a separate monotypic genus Lecanaclerda , which is close to Aclerda , from which it differs by fully developed legs in females [1] .
