Description

Small short-winged beetles - palps ( Pselaphinae ). Antenna with a mace of three apical segments (the last segment is the largest). 4th and 2nd segments of mandibular palps very long (almost equal in length to head length). The top of the rostrum of the head is angular to round, with setae. The species was first described in 1909 by the French diplomat and zoologist Achille Raffray ( Achille Raffray , 1844-1923) under the original name Pselaphus longifrons Raffray, 1909 . The valid status was confirmed in 2001 during a birth audit by the American entomologist Professor Donald S. Chandler ( Chandler Donald S .; University of New Hampshire , Durham , New Hampshire , USA ) [2] . The taxon Maydena longifrons is included in a separate genus Maydena Chandler 2001 along with the species Maydena alluvius (Oke, 1928) , Maydena bryophilus (Lea, 1911) , and Maydena foveiventris (Lea, 1911) and is assigned to the tribe Pselaphini from the subfamily Pselaphinae [3] [4 ] ] [5] .
