Distribution

Australia ( Queensland and New South Wales ) [1] .

Description

Small short-winged beetles - palps ( Pselaphinae ). Head with a wide protruding rostrum. Antennae with 4 enlarged apical segments. 4th segment of mandibular palps elongated, expanding to apex; 3rd segment short and triangular. Elytra with 3 discal grooves. Abdomen with pointed peaks of 1-3 (IV-VI) -th visible tergites.

The species was first described in 1877 by the German entomologist Ludwig Wilhelm Schaufuss ( Ludwig Wilhelm Schaufuss ; 1833-1890). The valid status was confirmed in 2001 during a birth audit by the American entomologist Professor Donald S. Chandler ( Chandler Donald S .; University of New Hampshire , Durham , New Hampshire , USA ) [2] . The taxon Margaris imperialis is included in a separate monotypic genus Margaris and is assigned to the tribe Pselaphini from the subfamily Pselaphinae [3] [4] [5] .
