Ordinary stargazer ( lat. Uranoscopus ) is a genus of ray-finned fish from the family of stellate rats ( Uranoscopidae).

Appearance and structure
Ordinary stargazers have a large, wide, thick head partly covered with bone shields, small eyes pointing upwards and sitting on the upper side of the head (where the name comes from), an upward slit in the mouth and a retractable appendage in front of the tongue, with the help of which ordinary stargazers are believed to be lure fish.

Keep at the bottom, waiting for prey.
