Biography
The early years
He graduated from Lindisfarne College in Hastings. Initially fond of cricket, but then preferred rugby. He played in teams under 16 and 19 for the Hawkes Bay national team. In April 2006, he completed an advanced rugby course at the International Rugby Academy under the guidance of Dave Renny, the coach of the Chefs team, and former coach of the Highlanders club and New Zealand national team Jeff Wilson . In 2006, Israel was selected to the Hawks Bay main team, which has not happened since Danny Lee got there, for which in 2006 New Zealand Rugby Almanack named him one of the top five young players.
Club career
In 2008, he received a call to the main team of the Highlanders club, and soon debuted in the Super Rugby Championship . From 2010 to the present, he represents the Crusaders .
Team Career
On June 12, 2010, Dagg made his New Zealand debut in a test match in New Plymouth vs. Ireland [1] . A week later, he had already played against the Wales team , but was injured and left the field before the break. For a long time, Dagg disappeared from the view of the national team coach Graham Henry, who preferred to release Mil Muliain . Soon, in the match of the Cup of the Three Nations against the South African national team, Degg finally entered the field for a substitution and made his first attempt, beating Shalk Burger and Pierre Spice alone. In that meeting, All Blacks won 31:17. On August 21, 2010 in the next match against South Africa, Degg scored again: in the last minute he got the ball from Maa Nonu and fled in the lead, making an attempt and bringing the New Zealanders the final victory 29:22 [2] .
At the 2011 World Cup, Degg was one of the top scorers in terms of the number of attempts: he managed to make the first attempt of the tournament in the match against the Tong team , and also made a second attempt before the break. In the match against France in the group, in the 22nd minute he realized his third attempt at the tournament [3] , and in all he managed to score five such attempts [4] . After Mils Muliain’s injury, Dagg took the main place in the national team [5] and played in the final match against France, which the New Zealanders won 8: 7. The victory allowed him to be included in the list of five best players of the tournament according to the version of the International Rugby Council [6]
