Sports career
In competitions for the World Cup he won five starts, the same number - five times took the second place and four times was the third; 32 times in the top ten. In the 1971/72 season, finished third in the overall World Cup. At the World Ski Championships in Italian Val Gardena (1970) he became the fifth in combination.
At his first Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria (1964), he was 19th in giant slalom. After four goals at the Olympics in Grenoble (1968), he was 10th in downhill and 12th in giant slalom. The pre-Olympic season of the 1971/72 World Cup began with a victory in the giant slalom and four podiums. The most significant success of the Swiss skier was the silver medal in giant slalom at the Sapporo Winter Olympics (1972).
The last time a skier started on January 27, 1974 in slalom in Kitzbühel, Austria.
At the end of his sports career, he took up the hotel business in the Swiss ski resort of Flumserberg.
