Soccer Players
Eight Danish national team players flew on a plane, preparing to fight for a place in the Olympic team, which is due to compete at the Olympic Games in Rome . They flew to the match in Henning [1] . Of these, three have already been preliminarily selected, five from the second and youth teams, preparing for the last opportunity to influence the opinion of the coaching staff [1] . All players were amateur (i.e., they had a different main profession), since professional football in Denmark was almost not supported, and appearances for foreign clubs threatened players with a ban on conscription to the Danish national team. The following players were on board: [1]
| Name | Age | Team | Games | Amplois | Job | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Per Funk Jensen | 21 | Copenhagen | four | Goalkeeper | Butcher | Selected for the Olympic team |
| Eric Pondal Jensen | 29th | Academisk | twenty | Midfielder | Engineer | Olympic team reservist |
| Kurt Kramer | 21 | Copenhagen | 0 (8 in youth, 1 in second) | Midfielder | Student of pedagogical university | |

| Erling Spalk | nineteen | Ikast | 0 | Central defender | Soldier (draftee) |
Only the pilot Sig Vindelov survived, which the fishermen found among the wreckage of the aircraft. Per Funk Jensen was also alive, but died on the way to the hospital [1] .
For the same match, the second plane was going to be delivered by four more players: Eric Dureborg, Hans Christian Andersen, Bent Jorgensen and Bjarne Eklund, players of the youth team [1] . Shortly before this Dureborg was removed from an unfortunate flight for his disgusting behavior, this saved the young player’s life [1] .
Consequences
After the disaster, the Danish Football Union discussed the removal of the Danish national team from the Olympic tournament, but then refused [1] . The efforts of the Danes were not in vain: they won the silver medals of the Olympic Games, losing only to the strong and titled team of Yugoslavia [1] [3] .
