Biography
Timofey Safronov was born on December 22, 1916 in the village of Verkhnezaglyadino (now the Asekeevsky district of the Orenburg region ). After graduating from elementary school he worked as a mechanic. In 1937 - 1939, he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army, participated in battles on Lake Hassan and on the Khalkhin Gol River . In January 1942, Safronov was again drafted into the army. From November 1943 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War [1] .
By October 1944, Senior Sergeant Timofey Safronov commanded the reconnaissance unit of the 5th Battery of the 135th Howitzer Artillery Regiment of the 63rd Howitzer Artillery Brigade of the 22nd Artillery Division of the 47th Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . Distinguished during the liberation of Poland . During the battles over the outskirts of Warsaw, Prague Safronov conducted reconnaissance of the German fire system and successfully corrected the artillery fire of his battery. On October 11, 1944, when the infantry began to withdraw under the onslaught of the enemy, Safronov and his comrades took a position from an abandoned anti-tank gun, destroying one assault gun and forcing the German infantry to withdraw. In that battle, Safronov was seriously wounded and lost his right hand [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated February 21, 1945, senior sergeant Timofei Safronov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal Star " number 5956 [1] .
In 1945, Safronov was demobilized for disability. He lived and worked in the village of Troitskoe, Asekeevsky district. He died on September 29, 1979 , buried in Buguruslan [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Star and Glory of the 3rd degree, a number of medals [1] .
In honor of Safronov his bust was installed in Asekeevo [1] .
