The Yekaterinburg Gallery of Modern Art is a private museum and exhibition complex in Yekaterinburg . Gallery specializes in professional art of the Urals.

Gallery collection

The collection of the gallery numbers about 1300 paintings, drawings, sculptures and demonstrates the evolution of the Urals art school, starting from the XIX century. Permanent exposure is regularly updated. In the permanent exhibition halls about 200 works are presented. The gallery is scientific and expert work. Has its own restoration workshop. The main task of the collection is to preserve the best works of Ural artists. Thanks to its search and practical activities, the gallery is a professional consulting center for the visual arts of the Urals . Thanks to the scientific activity of the gallery, the concept of the Nizhny Tagil school of painting was introduced into Russian art history: its description was made in 2012 in the gallery's collection catalog: Yekaterinburg Gallery of Modern Art: album / comp .: TA Pumpyanskaya, B.I. Artists

The artists whose works are in the gallery collection represent different generations and trends in the art of the Urals . At the moment, the list of authors has more than 150 names. The most famous masters - L.V. Turzhansky , M.Sh. Brusilovsky , V.M. Volovich , Yu.L. Bershadsky , Yu.N. Filonenko, G.S. Metelev, E.I. Neizvestny , A.I. Zinshtein , G.S. Mosin, E.I. Goodin , V.V. Bubnov, N.L. Mittsev, V.D. Muharkin and others.

Interesting Facts

  • In 2012, the gallery organized the first in 25 years exhibition [1] of the world-famous sculptor E.I. Unknown, born in Sverdlovsk and now living in New York . From this exhibition began the "return" of the master to his homeland. Thanks to the initiative of the gallery and the public, in 2013, the Ernst Neizvestny Museum was opened in Yekaterinburg with the support of the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region.
  • In 2009, the gallery developed the author's project “The Chronicle of a Modern Plant” on the revival of the industrial genre in art. The project has become a successful example of cooperation between young professional artists and business in new economic conditions. Since 2010, the project has been implemented at the TMK [2] and Sinara Group [3] manufacturing plants.
  • The gallery became the winner of the Ural Twitter Awards in the nomination "Best Cultural Twitter", established by the Flamp review service [4] in 2012 and 2013.
  • The Berlin Bear (2007) and the Berlin Bear (2011) donated by the German Consulate General to the city of Yekaterinburg, symbols of international cooperation, were painted by young Ural artists in the gallery's workshops. [five]
  • The three-storey mansion, built in 1992 as a private house, which now houses the gallery, is a typical example of red-brick architecture in the post-perestroika period.
