Biography
Early years
Born in 1924 in the village of Andreevka, now Zhualinsky district, Zhambyl region, Kazakhstan. He worked as a turner of the workshop of the cotton farm of the name "Five years of the Uzbek SSR" Galabinsk district of Tashkent region [1] .
On October 20, 1942, the Nizhne-Chirchik RVK, the Uzbek SSR , Tashkent Oblast , Nizhne-Chirchik District , was called up to the army. He got to the Kharkov Tank School , which was stationed in Tashkent .
In November 1943, Yevgeny Utkin graduated from college and, with the rank of junior lieutenant, arrived at the 93rd tank brigade in Right Bank Ukraine.
Participation in the Great Patriotic War
The first baptism of fire received on December 26, 1943 in the battles for Zhytomyr . After the liberation of the city, their team then received the honorary title “Zhytomyr” , and the thirty-four commander, Junior Lieutenant Utkin, received the first thanks from the High Command.
The whole of 1944 tanker Utkin spent in battle, was awarded the Orders of the Red Banner (1.2.1945) and the Red Star (08/15/1944). He smashed the enemy in the Lviv region , fought on the Sandomierz bridgehead. In the summer he was given the rank of lieutenant . In one of the battles he was seriously wounded, but, not waiting for a complete recovery, he returned to service. At the end of the year, he, as an experienced officer, was promoted to the position of commander of a tank company.
In January 1945, after the breakthrough of the enemy defenses, tankers were brought into battle. In pursuit of the enemy, they made throws of many kilometers per day. The tank company of Lieutenant Utkin was in the vanguard of the brigade. Attacking at the head of the main forces of the brigade, on January 17, 1945, it was the first to rush into the city of Sulejów ( Poland ) - an important stronghold of the enemy’s defense.
Feat
On January 31, 1945, the tank company of the 93rd tank brigade of the 4th tank army of the 1st Ukrainian Front , commanded by Lieutenant Utkin, reflected enemy counterattacks on the Oder bridgehead near the town of Zofiental (now Zdzlavławice) south of the city of Gur ). From the beginning of the offensive, the tankers fought over 600 kilometers, and along the whole route, the company commander clearly and efficiently supervised the subordinates, setting an example for his own prowess.
On the bridgehead, the enemy threw two of his best tank divisions against our units - Hermann Goering and Brandenburg, trying to throw Soviet troops into the Oder at any cost.
Heroes fought tankers officer Utkin. Only on the bridgehead, his company destroyed 8 enemy tanks, more than 20 armored personnel carriers, several artillery guns and vehicles, a lot of enemy manpower.
On February 16, the enemy launched a fierce counterattack against the company by superior forces. Utkin boldly led his tanks into battle. The Nazis had already begun to retreat, but at that moment an enemy self-propelled gun appeared on the flank of the Utkin company. She hit the company commander’s car, and Lieutenant Utkin was killed, and other crew members were injured. Hero was buried in the Polish city of Syców [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 10, 1945, Yevgeny Dmitriyevich Utkin was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal for the exemplary performance of the tasks of the command in the fight against the German fascist invaders. ] [2] .

Memory
- The name of the Hero is carved in gold letters in the Hall of Fame of the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Moscow’s Victory Park .
- A tombstone is installed on the grave of the Hero.
- He is forever listed in the Tashkent Higher Command Tank Order of the Lenin School named after the twice Hero of the Soviet Union Marshal of the Armored Forces P. S. Rybalko.
- In the state farm village, where he worked before the war, a monument was erected to the Hero of the Soviet Union Yevgeny Utkin [1] .
- In the same place the name of the tanker is one of the streets and the local school.
