Ohio County is located in the United States , Indiana . Officially formed in 1844 . As of 2013 , the population was 6,128. Got its name by the name of the Ohio River .

According to the United States Census Bureau , the county’s total area is 226.4 km², of which 223.1 km² is land and 3.3 km² or 1.48% are water bodies.

According to the 2000 census [1] , 5,623 residents of 2,201 households and 1,596 families live in the okrug. The population density is 25.00 people per km 2 . On the territory of the okrug there are 2,424 residential buildings, with a building density of about 11.00 buildings per km 2 . Racial composition of the population: white - 98.70%, African Americans - 0.48%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 0.12%, Asians - 0.14%, Hawaiians - 0.02%, representatives of other races - 0.05 %, representatives of two or more races - 0.48%. Hispanics accounted for 0.44% of the population, regardless of race .
Of the total number of households , 31.90% are children under the age of 18, 59.90% of households are married couples living together, 8.50% of households are single women without a spouse, 27.90% of households households are not related to families , 23.20% of households consist of one person, 10.20% of households consist of elderly people (65 years and older) living alone. The average household size is 2.53 people and the average family size is 3.00 people.
The age structure of the district: 24.80% under the age of 18, 7.80% from 18 to 24, 28.60% from 25 to 44, 25.00% from 45 to 64, and 25.00% from 65 and older. The average age of a resident of the district is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 97.00 males . For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.20 males .
The average household income in the district was 41,448 USD , per family - 48,801 USD . The average earnings of a man was 37,297 USD against 25,242 USD for a woman .
