[3] He took a prominent place in the Arsenal reserve team, and was on the bench of the League Cup in the first-team match against West Bromwich Albion on October 24, 2006, but never played. On February 19, 2007, he made history by becoming the first player to ever score a hat-trick at the Emirates Stadium for Arsenal U18 in the England Youth Cup match against Cardiff City , 3–2 . [four]

Millwall (rental)

In August 2007, he was leased by Arsenal to Millwall , for which he debuted for the first time for the first team, replacing his match in the League 1 match on September 1, 2007, losing to Huddersfield Town . He scored his first goal in a 3-2 lost match against Swansea City in the first round of the Southern Division of the Football League Trophy on September 4, 2007, and his first goal in a league in a lost 2-1 match against Swindon Town September 29, 2007. His lease expired on January 1, 2008, but was later extended until the end of the season. [5] Simpson scored 8 goals in 44 matches for Millwall and won the 2008 PFA League Player of the Year 1 Player Award [6] .

Simpson thanked Millwall for giving him the opportunity to improve his game, saying that “Switching to Millwall was the best decision I have ever made. Regularly playing in the first team, I really developed my game. It helped me grow as a player, and I made many good friends. It opened to me a world of good. Millwall's fans were really good for me, and I appreciated their support. ” [7] Arsenal’s coach Arsene Wenger said that in his opinion Simpson has a future at Arsenal, saying: “At the moment it’s too early to say whether he [Jay Simpson] has a future, but I think what "yes. He did everything very well and scored goals. "I always thought that Jay is a very good player and the fact that he could get a good experience at Millwall makes us all happy, because he is not only a good player, but also a very good guy." [eight]
