Bishop of Kokstad from November 29, 1980 to May 29, 1992. Archbishop of Durban from May 29, 1992. Apostolic Administrator Umzimkulu from August 1, 1994 to December 31, 2008. Cardinal priest with the title of church S. Francesco d'Assisi ad Acilia from February 21, 2001.
