Club career

Solis began his professional football career at the Herediano Club, making his debut in 1991. He played in it until 1996, winning the Costa Rica championship in the 1992/1993 season. Then Solis went to England, signing a contract with the Derby County club, along with his teammate and compatriot Paulo Vancope . However, Solis did not stay there long, returning to CONCACAF in 1998, to the Guatemalan Communicasions , for a year. Then Solis moved to the MLS club, where he played parts of the 1999 and 2000 seasons, the San Jose Cash (later known as the San Jose Earthquakes), scoring 4 goals and making 1 assists in 29 matches. After 2 years at MLS, Solis returns to Costa Rica, signing a contract with Alajuelens . He played in this team for 2 years, having won the championship with her in the seasons 2000/2001 and 2001/2002, after which he again went to Europe, signing a contract with the Greek club OFI . After a year in Greece, Solis returns to America, playing in the 2003/2004 season for the Mexican Irapuato , being invited there by his former coach, Alexandre Guimaraesem .

International Career

Solis made his debut with the Costa Rica team in 1993 in a friendly match with the Saudi team.

Mauricio Solis joined the Costa Rica national team at the 2 World Championships. At the 2002 tournament in all 3 matches of Costa Rica, he went out in the starting lineup. Solis played the first 2 matches against the national teams of China and Turkey , in the last with Brazil - in the 65th minute he was replaced by striker Rolando Fonseca .

At the 2006 World Cup, Solis also appeared in the starting lineup in all 3 Costa Rica games. In the first match of Costa Rica against the German national team, he was replaced in the 78th minute by midfielder Christian Bolaños , in the other two with the teams of Ecuador and Poland - Solis spent the entire field 90 minutes [1] .
