Numa, Roni

In 1983, Numa was called up to serve in the Israel Defense Forces , began serving in the Tsanghanim brigade ^[1] , where he went from a fighter and a squad leader to a platoon commander. Then he moved to the special unit of the Shaldag Air Force , where he served as company commander and deputy unit commander ^[2] .

From 1997 to 1999, he commanded the special unit “ Duvdevan ” ^[3] , and in 1999 he headed the special unit “ Shaldag ” ^[4] . In 2001, Numa returned to the Tsanghanim brigade and was appointed commander of the 202nd battalion brigade (Viper battalion ( Hebrew " . " Cef )) ^[5] . He commanded a battalion during Operation Defensive Wall .

In 2002, he was appointed commander of the Binyamin Territorial Brigade ( Hebrew חטמ"ר בנימין ) ^[6] .

In August 2004, he led the Nahal Brigade. In this position, which Numa held until May 2005 ^[7] , he commanded the operations of the brigade on the West Bank ^[8] and the execution of tasks related to the implementation of the “ Unilateral Disengagement Plan ” in northern Samaria ^[9] .

Subsequently, he served as an assistant to the Chief of the General Staff of the Army under Lieutenant General Dan Halutz (including during the Second Lebanon War ) ^[10] and Lieutenant General Gabi Ashkenazi ^[11] .

From 2008 to 2011, Numa commanded the special reserve division " Ha-Ash ", while also fulfilling the position of team commander in the courses of brigade commanders ^[12] . At the end of his post on May 18, 2011 ^[13] he went to study, after which, starting on July 17, 2012, he headed the reserve armored division Sinai and the National Center for the Training of Ground Forces ( Hebrew מל"י ) ^[14] . During the exercise of this post, he also headed the internal army commission for the reform of the reserve service in the army ^[15] .

On September 23, 2014, Numa transferred command to the Sinai Division and the National Ground Forces Training Center to Brigadier General Miki Edelstein ^[16] , and on September 29, 2014, Numa was awarded the rank of Major General and he assumed the post of Commander of the Depth Headquarters, a structural unit of the General Staff army, designed to coordinate special operations of the army in the operational and strategic depths, that is, outside of Israel - to replace Major General Shay Avital ^[17] .

Already in January 2015, a message was published on the decision of the Minister of Defense Moshe (Gods) Jaalon and the Chief of the General Staff of the army, Lieutenant General Beni Ganz , agreed with the successor of Ganz, Major General Gadi Aizenkot , to appoint Numa as Commander of the Central Military District of the Army ^{[ 18]} . On February 26, 2015, Numa transferred the command of the Depth Headquarters to Major-General of the Reserve Talu Russo ^[19] , and on March 25, 2015, he assumed the post of Commander of the Central Military District, replacing Major General Nitzan Alon ^[20] . He held this position until March 7, 2018, transferring command of the district to Major General Nadav Padan ^[21] .
