Born January 13, 1935 . [5]
In 1958 - 1961 he served in Algeria .
He studied at the Lyceum of St. Louis , at the Lyceum of Louis the Great , as well as at the Pantheon-Assas University . [5]
Licensed in law, has a diploma of special higher education in political science . [5]
In 1964 he received a doctorate in political sciences ( French Doctorat de science politique ) for his thesis “General strike in 1905, French myth and Russian reality” ( French La grève générale en 1905, le mythe français et la réalité russe ), defending it in front of Jean-Jacques Chevalier , Georges Bourdieu and Georges Lavaux ( Fr. Georges Lavaud ). [5]
In 1965 - 1966 he was engaged in economic research at Harvard University . [5]
In 1966 - 1967 - employee of the International Labor Office .
In 1968 - 1971 - research fellow at the International Institute of Social and Labor Research .
In 1971 - 1974 - researcher at the Department of Sociology, University of Geneva .
In 1974 - 1979 - Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology, University of Geneva . [5]
In 1979 - 1981, he was an extraordinary professor at the Department of Sociology at the University of Geneva . [5]
In 1981 - 2000 - an ordinary professor and head of the Department of Sociology, University of Geneva . [5]
