Content
Story
When a little boy is found dead on a beach in a small California coastal town, the police begin an investigation. After it turns out that this was a murder, the media begins an informational frenzy focused on this tragedy, which radically changes both the life of the boy’s family and the life of all the inhabitants of the city.

Production
In August 2013, at a press conference by the Association of Television Critics, it was announced that the Fox television network was developing the American version of “ Beach Kill ” ( Broadchurch ). Chris Chibnell will write the script and also act as executive producer of the series [13] . Production began in January 2014, and the premiere should take place in the 2014-15 television season [14] . The American adaptation was renamed Gracepoint [3] . James Strong , director of several episodes of the original, will also be filming Fox [1] .
Casting
On October 2, 2013, David Tennant was approved for the role of Detective Emmett Carver [2] . Tennant previously participated in the British original television series on which Gracepoint is based. On November 18, two more actresses joined, Anna Gunn as Ellie Miller and Jackie Weaver as Susan Wright. [1] [3] December 3, Kevin Rankin was announced for the role of Paul Coates, and Virginia Cull for the role of Beth, mother of Danny [7] . December 16, Kevin Zegers was approved for the role of news reporter Owen Burke [5] . On December 19, it was announced that Michael Pena would play Mark Lesseter, Danny's father. [4] December 20, Josh Hamilton was approved for the role of Joe Miller, husband of detective Ellie Miller [9] . December 23, Nick Nolte was announced for the role of Jack Reinhold [6] .
On January 15, 2014, Kendrick Sampson was approved for the role of Dean Iverson [10] . On January 16, Jack Irwin joined the cast as Tom Miller, the son of Ellie and Joe Miller and Danny's best friend. January 22, Madeline Horcher was announced for the role of Chloe Lasseter, daughter of Mark and Beth and sister Danny [11] . On January 23, Webster Talent reported via Twitter that Darcy Laurie would play the role of Hugo Garcia [12] . February 12, Sarah-Jane Potts was approved for the role of Gemma [8] .
Filming
Filming began on January 28, 2014 in Oak Bay, Canadian province of British Columbia [15] . The entire filming period took from four to five months, which took place in the nearby areas of Greater Victoria , including the city of Sydney and the districts of Island View Beach and Brentwood Bay [16] . During filming in the spring of 2014, the Port Sidney store in Sydney was converted into a police station in the fictional American city of Gracepoint, and the drug store in Oak Bay was converted into the offices of the Gracepoint Journal.
