General information

This route, with a length of more than 2000 kilometers, got its name due to the fact that for the most part it passes along the banks of rivers and lakes along the historical waterways. The route begins off the Atlantic coast of Norway ( Mu-i-Rana ), passes through the territory of Sweden, Finland, Russia and ends in Pudozh ( Republic of Karelia , Russia )

Route in Russia

In Russia, the route passes through the territory of the Republic of Karelia from west to east, in the latitudinal direction - from the border with Finland ( Värtsilä checkpoint) to the border with the Arkhangelsk region ( Pudozhsky district ). These are the territories of Sortavala, Pitkyarantsky, Suoyarvsky, Olonetsky, Pryazhinsky, Prionezhsky, Kondopoga, Medvezhyegorsky and Pudozh regions.

You can get acquainted with the route objects in Karelia on the website bluehighway.ru

The Blue Road international project “came” to Karelia in 1992. Thanks to the project, a tourist route was developed from Scandinavia through Karelia to the Arkhangelsk region in order to get acquainted with the cultural and historical sights of Karelia. [1] [2]
