Endemic of Romania . It lives in the West Romanian mountains (part of the Carpathian mountain system ) [1] [2] . The species was first described in 1896 by Danish zoologist Gustav Henrik Andreas Buddha-Lund (1846-1911) under the original name Porcellio ater [3] [4] [5] .
